Two Zimbabwean Designers Jacob Ngandu (Design @ 7) and Sifelani Ngandu (Cyberplex Africa) are two of five African designers who have been awarded scholarships by the Icograda Foundation scholarships.
The Icograda (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) Foundation recently announced the list of recipients of its biennial scholarships for 2001.
The scholarship scheme benefits deserving young designers by enabling them to attend Icograda Congresses. This year the Icograda Foundation offered £1000 on behalf of the Marika Singer and Viviana Iliprandi Memorial Funds, and Design South Africa contributed an additional sponsorship of two free congress registrations to ensure that more individuals benefitted from this scheme.
The Icograda Foundation Scholarships are normally available to all Icograda members but the trustees decided that it would appropriate to only award it to candidates from African member associations in 2001, as the Continental Shift Icograda Congress will take place in Sandton, South Africa.
The other recipients are Curt Campbell, Nicole Cunningham and Stella Viljoen- all from South Africa.
