If you have ever tried to visit any of the Zimbabwe Government Websites you will know how out of date and poorly maintained they are. Just over a month after he was inaugurated as Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai has an official website and compared to what we have seen before, it’s a breath of fresh air…
The website includes a forum, a poll and a feedback form, making it possible for the first time ever for Zimbabweans to give online feedback to their government.
The website is also very up to date. It was last updated- today. The last update before that was- two days ago. Content includes speeches made by Tsvangirai and his deputies at various functions, photos, news and downloads of various agreements and Parliamentary documents.
In the United States, Barack Obama made waves by using his website and the Internet as pivotal tools in his campaign strategy. He mobilised tens of thousands of volunteers through the website alone. Now that he is in office he plans to continue to use the Internet as a tool of two way communication and support mobilisation.
Obama has also become the first ever American President to use email after the development of special encryption software that will protect his privacy.
The address for the Prime Minister’s website is: http://www.zimbabweprimeminister.org/
